A creative spark is something that awakens your curiosity, fills you with wonder, and activates your imagination. The spark occurs anywhere and emerges out of what we see, do, and feel. Responding to that spark is the urge to make something, to connect with our world and leave our mark. Exercising your creativity satisfies like nothing else because it is the fruit of your mind and effort. All of us are creative in some way; creativity is integral to our existence. It’s something that can be cultivated and refined and contributes to a happier life.
A Creative Spark the newsletter will be weekly encouragement to seek out inspiration for your personal creativity.
There are many ways to express yourself creatively, such as through writing, music, and dance; I can provide guidance with the visual arts. Whether you are someone who wants to be more creative, an art lover, or know yourself to be artistic, you are welcome here.
As an artist and educator, I try to show others that there are many ways of looking at the world through the lens of art. With this newsletter, I aim to connect with others and share how being creative with intention and enjoying the art all around us enhances our lives.
Become a free subscriber and receive an email every Friday with a fun and easy prompt of artistic inspiration to ignite your personal creativity.
With a paid subscription, you’ll be able to comment on posts and you’ll receive an email every other Tuesday where I go deeper into topics on art and creativity as well as share more about my art-filled life abroad.
It’s my belief that we need more art, beauty, and nature, not more technology, for a happier, fulfilled life. Artificial intelligence is quickly changing how we work, learn, and interact with others. I’ll be thrilled when it does my taxes with a click (and for free) and helps solve problems like climate change, but let’s not give it the fun stuff such as depicting imagery that we emotionally connect with, crafting an email that perfectly conveys our point of view, or replacing conversations with friends who know and love us. AI has enormous potential to benefit our lives, but I ask you to resist relinquishing your human creativity to it. Search for authentic experiences and respond as only you, a unique individual, can. Let your creative output expand, not shrink. It goes without saying that all of the writing, photos and artwork you find here at A Creative Spark are made the old-fashioned way.
